So you may be thinking, what are those mysterious red circles on Gwyneth Paltrow's back? Well, they're the result of a process called cupping, a method of treatment used in traditional Chinese medicine that involves heating the air inside a cup and placing the inverted cup on some part of the body. A vacuum is created, which anchors the cup to the skin and pulls the skin upward. It's used in the treatment of respiratory diseases such as the common cold, pneumonia, and bronchitis, digestive disorders and neurological disorders. Cupping is also used to treat back, neck, shoulder, and other musculoskeletal pain. I know, it's a lot to absorb, but, there are a lot of benefits to cupping! According to some doctors, it releases toxins in the body, which, among other things, can help activativate the skin, clearing stretch marks and improving vericose veins! Sounds good to us! The procedure is extremely relaxing and also aids in purification of the blood. It is commonly used with an acupuncture treatment. Randy is so excited to have this procedure done and you will be too! "James from Think Acupuncture, with 2 locations in Huntington Station and Ronkonkoma, will be perfoming the process and he'll tell us all about it! To find out more, or to schedule an appointment, click here.
