Here Are Some "Collector's Items" You Can Stop Collecting

Beanie Babies - 1995 - made by Ty. Some called Beanie Babies road kill because of the flat design, but they became a huge craze when the inventor "retired" some of the most popular, making them valuable on collectible market. Some of the rarest designs sell for hundreds on EBay.

If you’re planning to retire off any of this stuff, you might be working into your 90s . . . There’s a list making the rounds of “collector’s items” that aren’t really worth collecting. Here are a few things you might want to stop hanging onto.

1.  Beanie Babies.  Nearly all of them are worth under $20.  You can find whole lots of them on eBay for less than that.

2.  Most vinyl records.  The market is so saturated, they don’t really hold much value.  They’re great to listen to.  Just don’t expect to get rich.

3.  Pez Dispensers.  Even the “good” ones sell for a buck or two.

4.  Pogs.  Nearly all of them are worth less than the cost of shipping.

5.  Baseball cards.  The REALLY old ones can be worth money.  But then they got mass produced.  If you’ve held onto a bunch of random cards from the ‘80s, you probably haven’t made much.

6.  Newer comic books.  Again, it’s all about the vintage ones.

7.  Cabbage Patch Kids.  If they’re in mint condition in the box, they might be worth money.  But if they’ve been played with, probably not much.

8.  Porcelain dolls.  They still aren’t worth much . . . but they’re just as terrifying, if that helps.

9.  Old VHS tapes and DVDs.  Stop lying to yourself.  They’re worthless.

10.  Vintage “Playboy” magazines.  They have to be in mint condition to be worth anything . . . nobody wants your dad’s used ones.
