The Little Mermaid Live Was Pretty Much a Flop

ABC has been doing live remakes of classic films the past couple of years, and honestly none of them have been mind blowing (remember when everyone had to watch the pre-taped rehearsal of “Rent” Live?). Tuesday night, The Little Mermaid Live debuted on ABC, and this remake was pretty much the same as every other show-a big flop.

It had a lot of promise, with Queen Latifah as Ursula, Shaggy as Sebastian, and Auli’i Cravalho as Ariel herself. Cravalho is the voice of Moana, so everyone was ready for a stellar performance. But... Ariel kind of sunk to the ground during some moments.

Oooo... girl... Let’s give her some credit, it IS a live show. But... this was painful to watch. Pair that with the fact that Shaggy had no claws to indicate he was playing a crab, and you’ve got a mediocre show that could be the equivalent of a high school production. Sorry, not sorry.

ABC, I think it’s time to stop putting on these shows.
