Reese’s Pumpkins Have Arrived . . . Yes, in July

You’ve heard of Christmas in July, so why not other holidays?

Reese’s Peanut Butter PUMPKINS have arrived a full three months before Halloween.  It’s the earliest Hershey has ever put them out.  But you won’t see them in stores just yet.

It’s a limited-release thing for people who prefer them over normal Reese’s cups.  The chocolate-to-peanut butter ratio is different, apparently.  (Here’s a photo.)

They’re selling 32-ounce bags on Hershey’s website for $25, and they’re shipped through the mail.  They won’t be available in stores for another six weeks or so.

Hershey’s is in the middle of a big class-action lawsuit over the pumpkins right now.  In May, four people sued in federal court, accusing them of misleading customers, because the pumpkins don’t really have faces.

The packaging shows them as jack-o-lanterns, but they’re blank chocolate on top.  The people behind the suit claim they were “very disappointed” by it.  They’re seeking “at least $5 million in damages.”
