CUMBERLAND, Ohio — A baby rhino was born last week at an Ohio wildlife sanctuary, officials said.
According to WLWT, The Wilds safari park in Cumberland took to social media Monday to announce that greater one-horned rhinoceros Sanya gave birth to a female calf on Aug. 16. The newborn “appears to be strong and healthy,” the Facebook post read.
“Sanya, an experienced mother, is providing excellent care to her little one and keeping the female calf close within The Wilds’ pasture,” the sanctuary said.
The new arrival marks the ninth greater one-horned rhino birth at the park, the post said.
Guests may be able to see the new calf on the park’s Open-Air Safari Tour or Wildside Tour, officials said.
