Officials in the western Indiana town of Rockdale were confronted with that scenario after receiving reports that a 19-year-old man wearing a costume of the beloved Pokémon character was rumbling through town while children crisscrossed streets in search of candy, WXIN-TV reported.

Rockdale Deputy Cameron Boller attempted to make a traffic stop, but the man wearing the brightly colored anime costume turned around and gave the officer an obscene gesture, police wrote in a Facebook post.

Boller chased the man for several blocks before ending the pursuit and letting the Pokémon character go, WXIN reported.

After determining where the man lived, Boller and Marshal Adrian Lepine went to his home, police wrote on Facebook. After a brief scuffle with the man -- who was out of costume -- the two officers took him into custody.

The man was charged with criminal recklessness and two counts of resisting law enforcement, police said. Alcohol or drugs were not suspected to be a factor in the incident.

Police said the man in the Pikachu costume apparently acted alone.

“However, we are not opposed to catching them all,” the department wrote on Facebook.
